How the numbers are made

Where the numbers come from

  • Card facts: the card DNA handoff (version 603b6c46), every card read fact by fact: roles, what it does, what it answers and how, what it costs. The site reads it and never edits it.
  • Scryfall: legality in every format, colors, sets, printings, images, mana symbols and set icons. Legality and new cards read October 22, 2026; printings October 22, 2026.
  • Popularity: EDHREC's rank, from Scryfall's Oracle file of the build (the card facts' own copy only when Scryfall has none), shown on a card page as its rank in Commander decks, with that file's date. It counts Commander decks, so it leans toward cards Commander players use.
  • Card names, text and art belong to Wizards of the Coast and are shown under its Fan Content Policy.
  • Metagame: MTGO decklists published by Wizards, via MTGODecklistCache, named by MTGOFormatData.
  • Arena rarities: 17Lands public card list (CC BY 4.0).
  • Mana math: Frank Karsten's published methods, with the formulas on each tool's page.

How to read any number here

Every tool has this same section at the bottom: the sources with the date they were read, and the formula behind each number. When something is estimated, the page says so and says how.

The Overview

The Overview shows once anything is saved in this browser: decks, cards, a wildcard plan, a Life Log game, a draft, a Haves list, a trade, a cube, Film Room matches, Prep, events, eval sheets or saved searches, each with a row under Pick up where you left off. A Life Log game still in play comes first, as Back to the table.

Collection value is Collection's own last reading when it is the newest word on your copies (Collection takes one a day, at today's prices when it could refresh them). Otherwise, when copies changed since that reading or there is none, the Overview counts it from the prices built into the site, and says their date: each copy you own (not proxies, not want lists, not Arena or Magic Online binders, not copies sold, shipped, sent to a buylist or lost) at its own printing's price, by its finish, the way Collection prices it, plus your bulk boxes at your estimate. A copy whose printing has no price is counted apart and said.

value = sum over owned paper copies of (copies x the printing's price for its finish: foil, etched else foil, nonfoil else foil) + bulk estimates

Your cards that moved this week are the printings you own whose TCGplayer market price moved 3% or more over the Market's last seven days, a dollar and up, biggest moves first, six at most. A printing is matched by its Scryfall id and finish, or by Collection's list of your printings (set, number, finish): never by the card's name, so a row always names a printing you own. Basic lands are left out.

move = (price now - price seven days ago) / price seven days ago, for each printing and finish you own

The words the buttons use

import
Bring a list of cards in, pasted or from a file: into a deck, your collection, a cube, a trade, King Goldfish, Matchup Lab or the Wildcard Planner. A preview shows what comes in before anything is saved. An imported deck takes the list's own title, or its first card's name.
add to deck, add to collection, add to wishlist
Put one card somewhere, from the card view or a card's page.
wishlist
Cards you want. Wishlists live in Collection and never count as owned.
save a copy
Keep your own copy of something someone shared with you: a deck, a cube, a trade, a wishlist or a trade binder link opens under a banner with this button.
for trade, share my trade binder, share my wishlist
Mark copies you own for trade in Collection, then send them, or your wishlist, as a link or a QR code. A friend taps the cards into a trade: start a trade with these opens it with what matches.
full card page
The card's own page, from the card view that opens when you tap any card.
log a match
Record a result: in My Stuff, on a deck's plans and results tab, after a draft, or in Film Room for paper games.
price and buy
What a deck costs, what you still need, and the stores' carts filled in.
sample hand, King Goldfish
A deck's sample hand draws seven cards on the deck page; King Goldfish plays the deck out turn by turn.
