The cost of a card
Wizards' rule since May 10, 2025: every printing of a card costs the lowest wildcard rarity that card has on Arena, and copies count across printings. So the planner prices each card by its cheapest Arena printing you can surely craft. Arena's own rarity for each printing comes from 17Lands' public card list (Arena's card database), which is how Special Guests get their Arena rarity; sets newer than that list use Scryfall's rarity. Printings Arena keeps only for special events set the price only when a card has no other Arena printing; otherwise they add a note.
The bill
A card several decks use is needed at the highest count any one deck runs, not the sum, because one set of copies serves them all.
needed = max over your decks of copies (capped at the card's own limit, four for any-number cards; basics free, Snow-Covered basics priced as commons)
to craft = needed - owned
The craft list is a sort, shown on the page: cards more than one deck uses first (most decks first, then your deck order), then each deck's own cards in the order you put the decks in; inside each group, the cards staying in Standard first, by rarity from mythic down and then by name, and the cards leaving Standard after them, in the same order. Your wildcards are walked down that order to mark what you can craft now. Cards Arena doesn't have, cards not legal in the formats of the decks that use them, and (with the rotation filter on, which is off until you switch it) cards leaving Standard on February 2, 2027, and cards only Alchemy decks use, go to a left-out list, each with its reason.
Alchemy, and where a rotating card stays legal
Each format's legality is Scryfall's own column for it. Alchemy has had its own card pool since July 29, 2025 (Bloomburrow forward and the Alchemy sets) and its own banned list, so a card can be banned in Standard and legal in Alchemy (Vivi Ornitier) or the other way round (Sewer-veillance Cam). Alchemy leaves MTG Arena on February 2, 2027, with Standard's rotation; its digital cards stay on Arena, legal in Historic, Timeless, Brawl and Competitive Brawl (State of the Formats, September 11, 2026). So every card of an Alchemy deck counts as leaving that day. A card leaving Standard says where it stays legal on Arena: Pioneer, Historic, Timeless and Brawl, by its legality in each today; a ban announced later (the next is November 30, 2026) can change that.
Where Wizards' banned list and Scryfall disagree about a card in a format (the site's formats file records each case, checked by hand: Cori-Steel Cutter, banned in Alchemy on Wizards' list since June 30, 2025 and legal there on Scryfall, is one), the card's row says so, with Wizards' source and a link to the format's list; the planner follows Scryfall. "Save to my decks" keeps the plan's format, Alchemy and Competitive Brawl included.
The pack estimate
Average wildcards per pack from Wizards' published rates: the chance of a wildcard in the pack itself, plus the wildcard track (an uncommon every six packs; the rare track pays four rares, then a mythic, one every six packs).
per pack: common 1/3, uncommon 1/5 + 1/6, rare 1/30 + 4/30, mythic 1/30 + 1/30
packs = the largest of (shortfall / per-pack rate) across the four rarities
A pack costs 200 gems or 1,000 gold. The rares and mythics you open, Golden Packs and the Vault all shorten it.
Packs and sets
The packs and sets tab takes each Standard set on Arena (its cards in packs, from 17Lands' public card list, which is Arena's own card database) and your Arena collection here, and counts what you own and what's missing by rarity, four copies of each card being a full set. Then it works out the packs to complete each rarity on average, from Wizards' published rules, each quoted on the tab with its source.
A store pack holds 5 commons, 2 uncommons and 1 rare or mythic; a bonus card in every pack takes a common's place, and a card that turns up 1 in N packs takes a common's place 1 time in N. One card of each rarity may be a wildcard (common 1 in 3, uncommon 1 in 5, rare and mythic 1 in 30 each), and the rare slot is a mythic at the set's published rate. Reality Fracture's isn't listed yet: every rate Wizards lists equals (2 x rares + mythics) / mythics, so the tab computes it that way and says so.
commons and uncommons (no duplicate protection): packs = the integral over t of P(some card has fewer than its copies to go after t packs), each card's copies a Poisson count at (the sheet's cards per pack / its size) x t
rares and mythics (duplicate protection): packs = copies to go / (rares or mythics a pack gives)
wildcards per pack: the in-pack chances + the track (uncommon 1/6, rare 4/30, mythic 1/30) + the Vault (1 point an extra common, 3 an extra uncommon; 1,000 points = 1 mythic, 2 rare, 3 uncommon wildcards)
"With the wildcards they give" is the fewest packs at which the expected wildcards (and yours, when you tick it) cover the expected copies still missing, rarity by rarity. Golden packs, when counted: one per 10 packs bought, 1 mythic and 3 rares or mythics from the Standard sets also legal in Alchemy and 2 from the latest of them; how their cards spread over sets isn't published, so the tab takes them as even [ESTIMATE]. Every card of a sheet is taken as equally likely [ESTIMATE]. These are averages over many players, checked against a simulation of real packs.
Packs or a draft: at the game win rate you set (each game independent; a best-of-three match won with p^2 x (3 - 2p)), each event's chance of every record (Premier, Quick, Pick-Two, Contender and Sealed are best of one to their wins or losses; Traditional Sealed plays best-of-three matches to 4 wins or 2 losses; Traditional Draft plays all three best-of-three matches), the expected gems back, net gems, prize packs, new rares and mythics (the ones you take, times your missing share of the set's rare and mythic copies, since draft picks have no duplicate protection, plus the prize packs') and wildcards, beside the same gems spent on packs. A Sealed pool is six packs you keep, counted at a store pack's rare slot rate [ESTIMATE: Wizards doesn't list a Limited pack's rare slot apart], with no duplicate protection, so its rares are new at your missing share too; the draft field doesn't apply to it. Quick Draft's chance of a second pack counts as that share of a pack, and a mythic pack counts as a pack. The entries and prize tables come from the site's one Arena event table, below. What your wildcards finish now: your saved Arena decks against the wildcards you have; rares and mythics that leave Standard are listed with the date and left out unless you tick them in.
The one Arena event table
The entries, prize tables, the Vault and the pack price this tab uses come from one hand-kept table, data/limited/arena_events.json in the site's source (cards/limited/arena_events.json on the site). Film Room's event desk reads the same file, so the two tools can't disagree on a payout. Every row keeps its sources, the day it was checked, and a status: Official (Wizards' own page, with its date), Secondary (other sites agreeing), or Conflict (sources disagree, both values shown). Where sources disagree on a number, this tab uses the first source's value and the event desk lets you pick the other. Wizards shows most prize tables in the client rather than on its site, so the client has the final word.
Pick-Two Draft (best of one, 4 wins or 2 losses, four-player pods): 900 gems; 0 wins 50 gems and 1 pack, 1 win 150 and 1, 2 wins 800 and 1, 3 wins 1,000 and 2, 4 wins 1,300 and 3. That is Wizards' table in its Through the Omenpaths card and event updates (September 16, 2025, updated September 23, 2025 to match the release), re-read October 18, 2026. Until October 18 this tab paid 2 wins as 800 gems and 2 packs, while Film Room paid 1 pack; both now read the table. The gold price is a Conflict: 7,500 gold on Wizards' page (September 2025), 6,000 in Draftsim's Pick-Two guide (July 20, 2026) and on mtga.fyi (read October 17, 2026). The table shows 7,500 with the other figure beside it; nothing here is valued in gold.
The Vault: 1 point for each common past four copies, 3 for each uncommon; at 1,000 points it opens for 1 mythic, 2 rare and 3 uncommon wildcards, quoted from Wizards' drop rates page (re-read October 18, 2026). West Games' wildcard calculator (September 2, 2026) lists 2 rare and 1 mythic and leaves out the 3 uncommon wildcards; the tab says so beside the rule.
New rows (October 18, 2026): Contender Draft (3,000 gems or 20,000 gold; Official, Wizards' announcements of May 18, August 31 and October 12, 2026), Sealed (2,000 gems; Secondary) and Traditional Sealed (2,000 gems; its packs a Conflict: 3 at every result per Draftsim, October 2026, or 1 to 5 by wins per mtga.fyi and the Fandom wiki).

About Wildcard Planner
What it does
- The bill for every deck you want, by rarity, after the cards you own, using Arena's own rule: every card costs the lowest rarity it has on Arena.
- A craft list sorted by how many of your decks use each card, then your deck order, with the sort shown on the page, walked against the wildcards you have so you see what you can craft right now.
- A rotation lens: cards leaving Standard on February 2, 2027 are flagged with where each stays legal on Arena, an Alchemy deck's cards with Alchemy's end that day, and a filter you switch on moves them to a left-out list. Every left-out card says why: not on Arena, banned or not legal in a deck's format, leaving Standard, or only an Alchemy deck uses it.
- Cheaper options for any rare or mythic: cards that do the same job, legal in the format, that cost less on Arena or that you already own.
- Arena doesn't export a collection, so it reads collection exports or the deck exports you paste, and you can mark cards as you go. Press crafted and it updates your cards and wildcards.
- Adds decks from a paste, from Deckbuilder (linked, so edits follow), or from any Meta Lens archetype.
Why
Wildcards are the scarcest thing on Arena. Seeing what one deck costs is easy. Planning across several decks, with rotation in view, is where the counts get complicated.
Changelog
- An imported list's format is guessed from the cards and said; under the bill, how many cards were left out and why, with a link to them; the example moves focus to the plan.
- Alchemy reads its own legality (its own card pool since July 29, 2025, and its own bans), and the planner says Alchemy leaves MTG Arena on February 2, 2027. A card leaving Standard says where it stays legal on Arena (Pioneer, Historic, Timeless, Brawl). Competitive Brawl is a format it checks.
- Pick-Two corrected to Wizards' table (800 gems and 1 pack for 2 wins), read from one sourced table shared with Film Room; Contender, Sealed and Traditional Sealed rows.
- Packs and sets, a new tab: for each Standard set on Arena, the copies you own and the cards you're short by rarity; the packs it takes on average to complete each rarity, with cards alone and with the wildcards those packs give (in packs, the wildcard track, the Vault, golden packs), in gems and gold; packs against a Premier, Quick, Traditional or Pick-Two draft at the win rate you set; and which of your saved Arena decks your wildcards finish now, with cards leaving Standard listed apart. Every rule is quoted with its source, and every assumption is marked.
- The craft order is now a craft list with its sort stated on the page, grouped as shared cards, deck 1, deck 2 and on. The list of cards left out gives the reason on each row, and the rotation filter is labeled as a filter, off until you switch it on.
- Live. Arena craft costs for 15,466 cards under Wizards' lowest-rarity rule, with Arena rarities from 17Lands' public card list (Special Guests priced as Arena prices them). Shared cards first, rotation flags, pack estimates from Wizards' published rates, cheaper same-job options, and a crafted button that keeps your counts current.
- Planned. Added from player requests for Arena collection tools and deck wishlists.
