How the numbers are made

Where the cards come from

  • Card facts: the card DNA handoff (version 603b6c46), every card read fact by fact: roles, what it does, what it answers and how, what it costs. The site reads it and never edits it.
  • Scryfall: legality in every format, colors, sets, printings, images, mana symbols and set icons. Legality and new cards read October 22, 2026; printings October 22, 2026.
  • Popularity: EDHREC's rank, from Scryfall's Oracle file of the build (the card facts' own copy only when Scryfall has none), shown on a card page as its rank in Commander decks, with that file's date. It counts Commander decks, so it leans toward cards Commander players use.
  • Card names, text and art belong to Wizards of the Coast and are shown under its Fan Content Policy.

How a search runs

Your search is read into tests (type, color, mana value, role, and so on), and every card is checked against each one, in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. The filter menu and the quick filters write the same words you could type, so what you click is always visible in the box.

One box. Whatever you type is read part by part, with commas between parts if you like. Search syntax stays as typed. Plain words go to a rule-based reader (not an AI model) that knows phrases like "3 mana or less", "legal in standard", "removal that hits planeswalkers", set names like "the hobbit", and "cards I own on Arena", and turns them into search words. A run of words that names cards ("goblin guide", "serra angel") stays a name search. Either way the page shows the search it ran and offers the other reading one click away. Words it can't place stay as name words when that still finds cards, and are dropped (and listed) when it wouldn't.

Formats

Legality in every format comes from the legalities field of Scryfall's Oracle bulk file, read October 22, 2026. A restricted card counts as legal (one copy), as on the official banned and restricted page. Besides Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Commander, Duel Commander, Oathbreaker, Historic, Timeless, Premodern, Brawl and Standard Brawl, the site reads six more of Scryfall's formats (added October 18, 2026): Pauper Commander (f:paupercommander or f:pdh), Gladiator (f:gladiator), Penny Dreadful (f:penny), Old School 93/94 (f:oldschool or f:93/94), PreDH (f:predh) and Alchemy (f:alchemy). Brawl is the 100-card Brawl, called Historic Brawl until December 2023 (f:historicbrawl works too). f:future is Scryfall's Future Standard, which isn't Wizards' list of what Standard will hold, and the search says so. The site's card list leaves out cards Scryfall counts in some formats (MTG Arena-only cards, ante, Conspiracy and sticker cards); a search naming such a format says under its results how many and why. Each format's legality is Scryfall's own reading, shown as given. One exception to Scryfall's reading: where Wizards has announced a card's legality and Scryfall's file doesn't carry it yet, the site follows Wizards from the day Wizards names, only while Scryfall still calls the card not legal there, and until that day says when the card joins. Today that is Mystery Booster Commander Edition's 60 new cards (collector numbers 1 to 60, Seluma and the other Rulebreakers among them): they join Commander on November 13, 2026, and Legacy, Vintage and Duel Commander on January 1, 2027 (Wizards’ page, checked October 21, 2026). Old School 93/94 is another exception: Scryfall decides it printing by printing (an Alpha Black Lotus is restricted there, its Vintage Masters reprint isn't legal), and its card-by-card file carries one printing's answer, so the site reads every paper printing's own answer from Scryfall's printing file and takes the card's status from them: restricted when any printing is restricted, else legal when any is legal, else banned when any is banned. A build whose printing file lacks those answers shows Old School as "By printing" and leaves it out of searches with a sentence. Alchemy legality covers the paper cards on Arena; Alchemy's rebalanced cards aren't in the card list. Competitive Brawl (f:competitivebrawl or f:cbrawl) and Tiny Leaders Reborn (f:tlr or f:tinyleaders) are Scryfall's too. In Duel Commander, Competitive Brawl and Tiny Leaders, Scryfall's word "restricted" means banned as commander (legal in the deck; none of the three has a restricted list), so restricted:duel finds Duel Commander's banned-as-commander list (27 cards, as on Scryfall) and the site says "banned as commander" wherever it shows it. is:paupercommander (or is:pdhcommander) is Scryfall's list of the cards that can lead a Pauper Commander deck, read every day, since Scryfall's paupercommander legality (f:pdh) covers only the 99 from November 26, 2024. Three formats Scryfall doesn't carry are read from another format's legality by the rule each format's own page states, less its own bans, with the rule and the bans from the site's formats file: Canadian Highlander (f:canlander) and 7 Point Highlander (f:sevenpoint or f:7ph) are every card Scryfall marks legal or restricted in Vintage, Big Apple Highlander (f:bigapple or f:bah) every card legal or banned in Premodern; banned: works for each, and restricted: says there is no such list. pts: (or points:) reads the points lists: pts:canlander is any card with Canadian Highlander points, pts:canlander>=2 two or more, and pts:sevenpoint and pts:xpoint are 7 Point Highlander's and X-Point Old School's; each answer is dated by its list. The formats file is read only when a search first names one of these. in:mtgo counts a card printed only on Magic Online's own printings (Vintage Masters, the Masters Editions, MTGO promos) as on Magic Online, as Scryfall does (31,082 cards on October 21, 2026, Scryfall's own count). Captain is the site's house format, from its founders' own lists.

Where a word means what Scryfall means

Eight search words used to mean something different here than on Scryfall (checked against Scryfall's own counts on October 22 and 23, 2026). Now: is:dual is the ten original dual lands and is:fetchland the ten that pay 1 life (the broader groups are land:"dual land" and land:fetchland); produces=wu is exactly white and blue, produces:wu at least those, each counting the mana a card makes itself, as Scryfall does (a card whose only mana is a Treasure it makes doesn't count, and the result line says how many more would); is:new is a printing in the 2003, 2015 or future frame, which is what Scryfall's search returns, though Scryfall's syntax guide describes only the 2015 frame, and is:old one in the 1993 or 1997 frame; a card new to the site is is:fresh; is:reserved finds 565 of Scryfall's 571 Reserved List cards, since the card list doesn't hold five ante cards and Cleanse (on Magic Online only), and the result line names them; in:booster is a card printed in a booster pack and -in:booster one never printed in one. Three still differ, and the result line says how: is:token finds token cards on Scryfall and nothing here, since the card list holds no token cards (cards that make tokens are is:tokenmaker); is:dfc here leaves out double-faced tokens, art cards and reversible printings; st:memorabilia here finds every card with a memorabilia printing, where Scryfall hides those printings unless include:extras.

Flavor, watermarks, frames and artwork. ft: (flavor:) reads every printing's flavor text, wm: (watermark:) and has:watermark its watermarks, frame:1993, 1997, 2003, 2015 and future its frame, and unique:art shows each artwork once, with that art. These come from Scryfall's Default Cards file (read October 22, 2026), in files read only when a search uses them.

Names in other languages. A card's name in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian or Chinese, or a flavor name (Godzilla, King of the Monsters), finds the card when no English name matches, from MTGJSON's data (MIT License, Copyright Zach Halpern) and Scryfall's flavor names.

Community tags

otag: and atag: read Scryfall Tagger's tags, a community project that Scryfall moderates and publishes as daily bulk files (Scryfall's tag docs). Oracle tags are joined to cards by Scryfall's oracle id; art tags by each artwork's illustration id through Scryfall's Unique Artwork file, so a card matches an art tag when any of its printings' art carries it. A tag takes in every narrower tag under it, as Scryfall describes (a broad tag such as "animal" holds no cards of its own). Tags are the community's words, not this site's card facts, and can change; long dashes in them show as plain hyphens and the British spelling of color is written the American way, house style. Any tag can be hidden in your browser, and the site can switch a tag off for everyone. The tags load only when a search or a card page asks for them.

Same job, other cards

Each card is a set of weighted facts: its roles, what it does, and how. Two cards are alike when they share weight, and less alike the further apart their mana values are:

likeness = shared / (A + B - shared) x (1 - 0.06 x min(mana value gap, 5))

A and B are each card's total weight. Cards below 0.15 are left out, a card must share at least one role or core fact to count at all, and by default only cards inside the first card's color identity are shown.

Which cards are in

Every paper card legal in at least one format the site tracks, plus new cards announced but not out yet. Left out: Un-cards and other silver-bordered or acorn cards, cards made only for MTG Arena or Magic Online (Alchemy's rebalanced and digital-only cards, Jumpstart: Historic Horizons' digital cards, Arena's starter cards; 688 of them are legal in Historic, Timeless, Brawl or Alchemy), Conspiracy draft-matters cards, ante cards, Mystery Booster playtest cards and oversized or memorabilia cards, about 2,600 in all (2,623 in Scryfall's Oracle file of October 18, 2026). That's why counts like banned:legacy come out lower than Scryfall's (the rest are Un-cards and ante cards banned everywhere), and why f:historic finds fewer cards than Arena holds.

Differences from Scryfall's syntax

Rules text is Scryfall's current Oracle wording, one ability per line. o: reads it without reminder text and fo: reads all of it, as on Scryfall; a regular expression sees each face on its own lines, so ^ and $ work on every face. ~ stands for the card's own name, a legendary card's short name when its own text uses one ("Sidar Jabari" for Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir), or "this creature", "this land", "this Spacecraft" and the like. t: matches a real type word as a whole word (t:rat finds Rats, not Pirates; t:bat finds Bats, not Battles) and anything else from the start of a word (t:legend finds Legendary). s:, r: and st: side by side mean the same printing (r:uncommon s:dmu). A star in power or toughness compares as 0, and pow=* finds cards whose power is a star (Scryfall reads it as power 0). in:paper, in:arena and in:mtgo find cards with a printing there. is:mdfc is modal double-faced cards and is:modal is cards with modes, as on Scryfall. Land kinds (is:dual, is:fetchland, is:checkland, is:painland, is:gainland and the rest) come from the card facts' own groups, most of them wider than Scryfall's lists: every land that fetches, every land that gains life as it enters, and so on (is:filterland leaves out the two five-color filters Scryfall counts). Three are also read from the rules text, so they hold every land on Scryfall's list: is:triland (the ten that enter tapped and tap for one of three colors), is:bounceland or is:karoo (Visions' five included) and is:creatureland or is:manland (any land whose own text makes it a creature). Power, toughness and loyalty are read face by face, so pow>=7 finds Thing in the Ice by its 7/8 back and loy>mv finds Jace, Vryn's Prodigy by his back face's 5; a color search matches it when either face matches, as on Scryfall (its own color, on its card page, is its front face's). A regular expression that would take too long is refused or stopped after 1.5 seconds.

Two keys keep the site's own meaning. year: is the year a card was first printed; on Scryfall it is any printing's year, so year>2025 there also finds old cards reprinted lately. usd: is the card's cheapest printing by the site's price rule (below); on Scryfall it is any printing's price, so usd>100 here finds cards whose every printing you can play costs over $100. mana>=2 with a number stays the site's own key, mana added; mana: with symbols is Scryfall's mana cost.

More of Scryfall's keys

The keys below follow Scryfall's syntax guide (read October 18, 2026). The market scan of that day tried 86 of its queries: before, 26 ran and 60 gave an error; after, 71 run and the other 15 say why they can't.

About the card. m: (or mana: with symbols, or manacost:) is the mana cost. m:{2}{U}{U} or m:2uu is a cost holding at least those symbols, m= exactly them, m< and m> fewer or more. Generic mana counts as an amount (a {3} holds a {2}), and a hybrid symbol is the same in any order ({u/w} is {W/U}). A split, adventure or two-faced card matches when one half's cost does, as on Scryfall; the halves are never added together. devotion: counts the mana symbols of those colors in a permanent card's front face cost (an instant or sorcery never counts), a hybrid symbol once and generic and colorless never, as in rule 700.5 of the Comprehensive Rules; devotion:{u}{u}{u} is at least three. pt: (or powtou:) is power plus toughness, a star as 0, read face by face too. artists: counts the artists one printing credits (two for a card drawn by a pair), the most on any printing, as Scryfall counts it; sets: counts every set the card is in, Magic Online's own included, and papersets: only the paper ones, from the printing file (Juggernaut: 26 and 24). edhrec: is the popularity rank, game: where it can be played, in:rare a rarity it was printed at outside Secret Lair Drop, promos, From the Vault, Masterpieces and memorabilia, as Scryfall reads it. Color searches take Strixhaven's college names (silverquill, prismari, witherbloom, lorehold, quandrix). is:bear is a creature card whose front face is a 2/2 with mana value 2; is:frenchvanilla a creature whose rules text, reminder text aside, is only its keyword abilities; is:historic legendary, artifact or Saga; is:outlaw an Assassin, Mercenary, Pirate, Rogue or Warlock, or a changeling; is:party a creature that is a Cleric, Rogue, Warrior or Wizard, or a changeling creature (read from the type line and keywords); is:companion, is:partner (a legendary card with Partner in any form, Friends forever, Choose a Background or Doctor's companion, a Background, or a Time Lord Doctor) and is:leveler come from the card's keywords. date: takes a day (2025-01-31), a month, a year or a set code (that set's release day), and reads each printing's own day from the printing file (a Secret Lair or The List card comes out long after its set code opened); st: takes a set type (masters, commander, promo and the rest).

About one printing. cn: (or number:), lang:, eur, tix, new:, border:, frame:, and is:foil, nonfoil, etched, promo, reprint, funny, fullart, showcase, extendedart, borderless, textless, serialized, datestamped, prerelease, promopack and oversized read the printing file Collection uses, from Scryfall's printing data of October 22, 2026. It loads only when a search first names one of these. Such a search checks each printing of each card, and a card matches when one printing meets every printing term together, as Scryfall reads it: s:lea cn:232 is the printing numbered 232 in Alpha, and is:foil lang:ja a Japanese foil, not a card with some foil and some Japanese printing. Inside such a search, s:, r:, a:, st: and date: also read that printing. eur is a printing's Cardmarket price in euros, its nonfoil price or else its foil price, as Scryfall reads it, and tix its MTGO price in tix, both from Scryfall; the printing file holds paper printings only, so tix is the price of a paper printing's Magic Online twin. new:rarity and new:artist find a printing that brings a rarity or an artist the card never had before; the card's first printing counts, as on Scryfall, the lowest collector number stands for printings out the same day, and new:rarity passes over promos, From the Vault, Masterpieces and memorabilia. A printing in a token set (a Shapeshifter token, an eternalized copy) is never counted as the card's own. unique:prints shows every matching printing as its own result, captioned with its set and number, and opens the card page with that printing up top (the card view shows a card's usual picture, so it is skipped for these). prefer: picks which matching printing pictures each card: oldest, newest, usd-low, usd-high, eur-low, eur-high, tix-low, tix-high, promo, atypical (a special treatment first) or default; cheapest:usd, cheapest:eur and cheapest:tix are the same as the low ones. Price choices skip printings that aren't paper cards you can play, as the price rule does. display: sets the view (grid, checklist, text). On Decks and Collection, which don't read the printing file, printing terms match nothing, except date: and papersets:, which answer there from the set list and say so.

Read from what the file holds. The printing file doesn't carry Scryfall's promo flag or its frame effects; it carries a short label of each printing's treatments (borderless, extended art, showcase, full art, the foil kinds, prerelease, promo pack, date stamped and the like), at most three per printing. So is:promo is a printing in a promo set or labelled prerelease, promo pack, date stamped, buy-a-box, bundle, release promo, game day, store championship, FNM or judge gift; the treatment keys (is:fullart, is:showcase, border:borderless, frame:extendedart and the rest) read that label (serialized and textless are always kept, past that limit), so a printing with four or more other treatments can miss the last of them. is:reprint is a printing out after the card's first printing day. lang: (and in:ja and the like) reads the same file, which holds each printing once, in English whenever an English version exists, so it finds printings made only in that language, such as Japanese promos, not every translation; the note under such a search says how many printings in the file aren't in English.

What can't be searched here, and why. These are left out of the search with a sentence saying so, never an error; a search made only of them says the site can't answer it yet and searches nothing. Flavor text (ft:, flavor:, new:flavor) and watermarks (wm:, has:watermark) aren't in the site's card files. Frame years and most frame effects (frame:1993, new:frame), security stamps (stamp:), artwork ids (illustrations, unique:art, new:art), Universes Beyond marks (prefer:ub, is:ub), Scryfall's story spotlight mark (is:spotlight) and black, white, silver or yellow borders aren't in the printing file (it marks borderless and gold-bordered printings only). Blocks (b:) aren't in the site's set list; name the sets instead. Scryfall's cube lists (cube:) aren't in the site's data. The printing file holds paper printings only (is:digital), and Alchemy's rebalanced cards aren't in the card list (is:alchemy).

Prices

Search and card-page prices are TCGplayer market prices in US dollars, from Scryfall's printing file of the date on each card page: the lowest and the highest, any finish, among the printings you can play in a paper game. Memorabilia (Collectors' Edition, 30th Anniversary Edition, World Championship decks), token, minigame, oversized, gold-bordered and playtest printings are left out, and so are serialized printings, whose market figure rests on a handful of sales, and printings whose TCGplayer figure is under a twentieth of their Cardmarket one when that is over 20 euros, since the two can't be for the same card (Summer Magic's Dark Ritual reads $0.44 against 337 euros). Printings already out count first; one not out yet counts only when none that is out has a price. A card with no price on such a printing has none (Black Lotus), rather than a Collectors' Edition price. This is the site's one price rule: the deck pages' cheapest printing, the deck list, the quick view, Collection and the Trade Calculator all use it. Decks and Collection read the same file and refresh it from Scryfall once a day when those pages open.

Table mode

Only what the Magic Tournament Rules let you show across a table (section 2.11): each face's name, cost, type line, rules text and power and toughness, loyalty or defense, from Scryfall's Oracle data, and the rulings Scryfall marks as Wizards' own. No prices, popularity, combos, links or tags. Turned around, the same text is rotated 180 degrees for the player across from you.

Every store's price

Beside the TCGplayer market price the site uses everywhere (from Scryfall), the card page and Collection show store prices from MTGJSON's AllPrices (MIT license), dated: TCGplayer retail as MTGJSON reads it, Card Kingdom's asking price and its cash buylist, Mana Pool's asking price and Cardmarket's price in euros, for the normal and the foil finish (etched has none). MTGJSON gathers these from the stores' public feeds, and the stores' own terms for that data aren't published; the site never reads a store's own pages. Card Kingdom pays is its cash buy price divided by the market price of the same printing and finish. The flag shows when the highest of TCGplayer retail, Card Kingdom and Mana Pool is more than 1.5 times the lowest. The stores' prices are for near mint copies and are shown as they are; only Collection's value by condition, off unless you switch it on, multiplies them by a condition share.

In Limited

From 17Lands' public game data for Premier Draft (CC BY 4.0), summarized by the site into counts of games and wins and nothing else. A card counts in a game when it was in the deck, in the opening hand, drawn later, in hand at all (the opening hand or drawn: GIH) or in the deck but never seen. Every rate is wins over games, with its 95% Wilson range; improvement when drawn is the win rate in hand minus the win rate when never seen, in points, with Newcombe's range. Color pairs need 200 or more games in hand. The 60% group is 17Lands' own bucket of each player's overall game win rate. 17Lands users win more than the average player, so compare within a set, not with 50%. The average pick is from 17Lands' draft data.

About Super Search

What it does

  • Scryfall-style syntax: name, rules text, type, color, identity, mana value, format, set, rarity, price, and more.
  • DNA keys nobody else has: role:, does:, wants:, costs:, exile:creature, side:, grants:, token:, has:, and numbers with direction like draws>=2.
  • Scryfall Tagger's community tags: otag: for what a card does and atag: for what its art shows, each taking in its narrower tags, or plain words like "tagged mana-rock". Card pages list a card's tags, credited to Tagger, and any tag can be hidden.
  • One box for everything: a card name, plain English, search syntax, or a mix with commas between the parts. It shows the search it wrote, so you learn the syntax as you go.
  • Live facets on every search: the curve, colors, roles, and formats of your results, one click to narrow and alt-click to exclude.
  • A page for every card: its facts in plain English, cards that do the same job, what answers it in each format, every known combo explained step by step, and every printing with prices.
  • Most of Scryfall's search syntax, and Pauper Commander, Gladiator, Penny Dreadful, Old School, PreDH and Alchemy. Card pages show how often MTGO's published lists play the card, format by format.
  • Every format with its dates: each ban and restriction dated and sourced, banned as commander said as such, why a card is or isn't Pauper legal, Pauper Commander's commander list, and Canadian, 7 Point and Big Apple Highlander with their points lists, searchable with f:, banned: and pts:.
  • Works with no signal once the card list is saved for offline (My Stuff's Ready for the shop); a phone keyboard never rewrites the card name you type.
  • Search the way Scryfall reads it, flavor text, watermarks, frames and artworks included, and by a card's name in ten languages.

Why

Text search finds words. Deckbuilding needs jobs. Ask for two-mana instant-speed interaction in Standard and you want every answer, however it's worded. Scryfall's syntax works here. Super Search adds the facts behind every card, read line by line, so you can search by what a card does, who it hits, and what it costs you.

Asked for by players

  • Search that knows your deck: hide cards already in it, or search only inside it. Deckbuilder searches with your format and colors, and deck:name finds cards in any of your decks. shipped
  • An owned-only switch on every search: own:yes, own>=4, own:foil, wish:yes, and is:owned read your collection. shipped
  • A menu of filters for people who don't want to learn the syntax: colors, mana value ranges, types, what a card grants or has. shipped
  • A switch that keeps every search to one format. shipped

On the list because players asked for them in public feature requests and forums, September 2026.

Changelog

  • is:new and produces: count as Scryfall's search does (is:new from the 2003 frame on; produces: the mana a card makes itself, not its Treasure's), is:reserved names the six Reserved List cards the site doesn't hold, and "life counter" or "pauper" points to the Life Log or the Pauper page above the results.
  • "Ready for the shop" in My Stuff now saves Super Search's page and the card page with the card data, so both open with no signal, even before the rest of the site is saved.
  • Means what Scryfall means: is:dual, is:fetchland, produces=, is:new and in:booster now match Scryfall, and the three that can't (is:token, is:dfc, st:memorabilia) say how they differ. New: ft:, wm:, has:watermark, frame years, unique:art, card names in ten languages and flavor names, and a menu on the results (copy the names, a CSV, add them all to a deck, a random one). Card pages show the card in seconds on a slow phone, the text as printed, names in ten languages and dated Oracle wording changes.
  • Card-name boxes everywhere stop the phone keyboard from capitalizing or correcting what's typed; a decklist pasted into the home page's box is offered to Decks, or as a search for its names; Super Search works with no signal once My Stuff's Ready for the shop has saved the card list.
  • Every format, on card pages and in search. Each format row links to its own page and shows the date and source of a ban or a restriction; Duel Commander, Competitive Brawl and Tiny Leaders say banned as commander; Arena Best-of-One bans, companion bans and legality still ahead (Joins Commander on November 13, 2026) are named. Pauper Commander shows the 99 and the commander apart, and a fold says why a card is or isn't Pauper legal, printing by printing. Canadian Highlander, 7 Point Highlander and Big Apple Highlander are on card pages and searchable (f:canlander, f:7ph, f:bah), with points (pts:canlander>=2) and each list's date. New keys: is:paupercommander, f:cbrawl, f:tlr, restricted:duel; card pages price Magic Online-only printings in tix.
  • Six more formats (Pauper Commander, Gladiator, Penny Dreadful, Old School 93/94, PreDH and Alchemy) in search and on card pages. Most of Scryfall's search keys now work (mana symbols, devotion, collector numbers, borders, frames, finishes, languages, euro and ticket prices, new:, unique:prints, prefer:), with a plain note for any the data can't answer. Card pages show how often MTGO's published lists play the card in each format, and link to its eBay sold listings.
  • Card pages: table mode (rules text and Wizards' rulings only, large type, turned around for the player across the table, as MTR 2.11 allows); every store's price by printing (Card Kingdom sells and buys, Mana Pool, Cardmarket, from MTGJSON) with what a store pays and a flag when asking prices differ a lot; and how the card did in Limited, from 17Lands' public game data.
  • Community tags from Scryfall Tagger: otag: and atag: (with oracletag:, function:, arttag: and art:), "tagged" and "art tagged" in plain words, and a community tags section on every card page, credited to Tagger, where any tag can be hidden or the tags switched off.
  • Prices and where to buy, on every card page: each printing's nonfoil, foil and etched price in a compact table, lowest first or newest first, how many of each printing you own, and a link to buy that exact printing at TCGplayer, plus TCGplayer and Card Kingdom searches for every printing. The quick view links to both stores too. Prices say where they come from and as of when; the links carry no affiliate codes.
  • Sharper card pictures. In search, card pages, decks, the collection, drafts, cubes, goldfish, Meta Lens and the Oracle, card pictures now draw at two screen pixels per pixel on Retina and phone screens: grids and lists pick Scryfall's size for the space and screen (the same WEBP pictures Scryfall's own site uses, about 40% lighter), and the big card on a card page, the quick view and the editors use Scryfall's large scan at a size it fills exactly. The printings grid, the worst offender, went from about half of that to full. Card pictures are never trimmed, faded or tinted.
  • One box for everything: type a card name, plain English, syntax, or a mix with commas (t:creature, 3 mana or less, legal in standard) and it runs as one search, shows what it ran, and offers the other reading one click away. It reads negatives (creatures without flying, nonlegendary, not red), land cycles (check lands, triomes), prices (under a dollar, over $100), mana value however it's typed (cmc 3, 4 cmc, costs less than 3), commander colors (golgari commanders, 4 color commanders), set names and codes (the hobbit, duskmourn rares, mh3), counters, tokens of a kind, and lists of card names. Pick several sets at once, from the chips or the set picker. New quick filters for your own cards: own it or not, anywhere, in paper, on Arena or on MTGO, and whether proxies count.
  • Rules text is now Scryfall's current Oracle wording, one ability per line, on 32,006 cards (985 had older wording). Search matches Scryfall on 253 of 282 test queries: t: reads real type words whole (t:bat is Bats, not Battles), r: and s: mean the same printing, a star counts as 0, either face of a double-faced card matches color and stats, exact names match a face, in:arena works, and is:modal matches Scryfall card for card. Restricted cards now count as legal in Vintage and Timeless, 180 more legends and Vehicles can lead a Commander deck, and your own-collection searches update the moment you add a card.
  • Every printing on every card page, as pictures or a list: Secret Lair drops, promos, special frames and foils, with each finish's price. Pick one to put it up top, flip it, or see it as a foil.
